Halloween is very near and so whilst you’re stocking up on your pumpkins and sweeties for the trick-or-treaters. I decided to write a post involving one of my favorite hobbies… FANCY DRESS!

Costumes on Halloween can be really elaborate makes, I’ll never forget the year I donned a headless body concoction to my university’s student union, or they can be as simple as some cat ears and some whiskers drawn with eyeliner (we’ve all been there). However I feel that more attention could be paid to the delights of the kitchen bin bag! So for this Halloween-inspired blog, I have decided to share my 6 favorite ideas for costumes involving bin bags!

1)   A SKELETON

It’s a classic and adaptable for everyone… Just get your bin bag, cut out a hole for your head and arms and then draw on your design with chalk and then go over the chalk with white tape! Or if you’re feeling really artsy, why not paint it? You could even use glow-in-the-dark paint if you really wanted to shine amongst the crowd (literally).

2)   A Witch or Wizard!

You can make the most elaborate cape! Cut it how you want, paint it, add glitter or any other decorate things you have! Look at this duo! It’s cheap and looks cool!

3)   A Nun!

Easy to assemble, just put it over the head, cut head and arm holes and then add a paper collar (or fabric to be extra crafty!) and add paper to the forehead section to create your own habit!

4)   A Bowling Ball!

A sure way to make sure you bowl someone over! Cut the holes in the bin bag (head and arms) and then tape lots of plastic bags or more bin bags to the inside of your main bag (so it get’s very puffy and round). Then just stick on three white spots and ta dah! Let’s hope you’ll be up someone’s alley!

5)   Oil Spill!

Now this is political and clever! Simply cut the holes in to make a basic dress and then glue some more bags to the bottom of the bag to make it longer and attach some paper seaweed, a BP sign and some cuddly toys covered in black paint…

6)   Or if in doubt, just invent your own Superhero…

…attach bits of your bin bag to your legs, arms and chest (you could even make an oldskool bandana or mask) and then off you go! Saving lots of money as well as the world!

Whatever you decide to make with your bin bag, make sure you are very careful and always leave a hole to breathe!

Have a happy Halloween everyone!

Love, Daisy
