Don’t Give Up On Your New Year Resolution Just Yet!
So we have just started another glorious year, the year of 2015. Some may argue another year of problems, stress, overeating, procrastination and being socially awkward.
But this year, ladies and gents, I ask you to do something different. Most of you are probably thinking: ‘What are you talking about, don’t you think I’ve lied enough to myself to last me a lifetime?’
Well, I have to agree with you, the thought of keeping hundreds of promises to yourself at the start of the year, most of which you don’t keep, can be annoying.
Trust me, I would know.
The amount of times I make a vow to myself to wake up on time and eat breakfast, or stop eating junk food, and read the expensive books I bought last year that are just sitting on my bookshelf and looking pretty, makes me laugh every time I think of keeping another promise.

But, wait.
Why stay the same -why don’t we change and get out of this horrid cycle?
I want us to make a change not a promise.
I want you to take action and not just have thoughts of doing that act.
New Year Resolutions can be annoying and sometimes put a dampener on things if we don’t keep those pesky promises.
But why should we give up so easily?
I mean what’s so special about News Year’s Resolutions that says that once you’ve dropped them that’s it you’re a failure, and can’t try again.
I’m not asking you to burden yourself with making that small change.
I’m asking you to TRY!
TRY, TRY AND TRY AGAIN.
If you don’t try, you will never succeed and even if you try and fail putting in all your effort, at least you can say that ‘yes, I tried and did something rather than sat back and got depressed’.
Personally, I don’t particularly relish the idea of failing to do something I set out to do, but neither do I enjoy the idea of failing without even trying.
I mean, what have you got to lose?
For example, let’s say your resolution was to read more books. Make a little change and carry a book with you wherever you go and just maybe you might find yourself bored out of your brains on the bus causing you to delve into your juicy novel.
Everything starts with little baby steps, make a conscious decision to change along with a positive attitude, and, before you know it, words will become actions leading to success.

Good things happen because of hard work, so don’t just say it, do it too.
Gosh, I sound like the Nike slogan ‘Just Do It’.
Don’t fall into the trap of giving up so easily – it’s ok if you fall, just get back up and try again. Don’t back down until you’ve achieved your goal. Be it achieving a higher grade this year in exams or trying to stop stressing and making time for yourself.
Every resolution or goal is important and giving up on the first hurdle is not a failure or a sign of weakness. IT’S NORMAL.
Everybody falls flat on their face the first time they try something new, I’ve fallen so many times I can’t even keep count.
So, if you’re thinking of giving up on your resolution now, think again.
Most importantly, remember don’t give up and keep trying. =)
