Back in the day Whitney proudly sang about her belief in the children of the future. Although this hit song can more commonly be found amongst drag queens repertoires and hen night playlists, I think that its message is one that I am greatly dependent upon. In the past few weeks, I have been somewhat ashamed by those of my... Read the rest of this post...

I feel like I ‘ve been told so many times to be happy, to embrace life, that I’m beautiful - well you know what sometimes I’m just not. And you know what- after I started acknowledging that I felt a relief. It wasn’t ‘happiness’: This isn’t me saying that everything was better because it wasn’t, it was still shit - but I got on with it. Feel every emotion. We can’t be happy all the time because if we were - well, what would there be to write about?

I’ve had the misfortune of being on the end of some seriously narcissistic behaviour recently. We all have people in our lives that we find it hard to get along with or whose personality clashes with our own but what do we do when we realise that someone in our life is bringing us down? Like all personality disorders the... Read the rest of this post...

The #nomakeupselfie trend took social media by storm this week – and boy did it spark up some debate! “It’s vain” “It’s narcissistic” “I don’t see the point” “It’s just a shame it takes online media and even vanity to highlight a disease we all clearly know about and many other causes and so we should be donating naturally.” “Going... Traditionally, us Brits are known for our reserved natures. But, since Facebook has come into being, this ‘stiff upper lip’ seems to have gone out of the window. When did it become okay to air dirty laundry on such a public forum? (Image via) Everyone knows that 95% of your Facebook friends aren’t actually friends at all. They’re people you... So you’re blissfully in love. Snuggling next your top totty every night. (Gotta luuuuurve the snuggling!) Romantic candle lit meals at that quaint little Italian place in town. Oo oo oo, remember that time when you got cappuccino froth on your chin? You looked like a ‘cutsey wootsy Papa Smurf’, and then your beaux wiped it off with her handkerchief... What if I told you I had a terminal illness? That I only had a few months to live but there was a chance I could drop off at any moment. How would you react? I can hear the conversation in my head: two ladies sat over two cuppas in the local greasy spoon. “They say she only has a... Read the rest of this post...

“So Beth, what do you think about immigration?”
Now before I tell you my answer I’ll tell you of the circumstances. I was working in a pub in London. I had just walked into the pub’s kitchen where three of its chefs were discussing current affairs as they placed over-priced fish in the deep fat fryer.

A recurring theme with most of my girlfriends at the moment is that the men in their lives insist on playing games. Games that make them lose trust and faith in humanity, give up on believing that there is a guy out there for them and make them withdraw into themselves. The other theme that runs along with this is... Read the rest of this post...

I remember the first time I witnessed sexual harassment. I was 17, in a nightclub with my aunty. Hold up, hold up! I know what you’re thinking. YOU WERE WHAT!? (Yes I was a wild one!) My aunty was pretty cool (she still is, I don’t know why I’m talking about her as if she’s dead). (Image via) So there we... Read the rest of this post...
