Thursday morning, America lost one of its treasures. The voice of Maya Angelou has been the song of hope for so many women and men throughout a socially and economically turbulent century that saw changes no one thought possible. Now, at the end of her life, we all remember how one woman survived rape, teenage pregnancy, countless occupations, and constant... Read the rest of this post...

Yesterday evening I was sat in my car, I won’t tell you the context of the situation, but I will tell you I was distressed. In fact the whole drive home was accompanied with a long and emotional monologue. ‘I’m trapped.’ I repeated to myself ‘I’m trapped and I don’t know what to do. I just don’t.’ We’ve all had... Recently I found out about a website called Tube Crush. It’s a forum where people can send in pictures taken of hot guys on the tube. These pictures are then posted and people can rate and comment on them. A similar concept, the Facebook page Women Who Eat on Tubes caused outrage recently. So, should we be feeling the same... Dinnertime at the Johnson household usually means being subjected to my mother’s fascination with back-to-back nightly news, and last weekend was no different. After getting bummed out about all the mayhem in the world, and realising that the news anchor was wearing hipster glasses, a story came on that got me thinking about my professional life.
The report was on career coach, Peggy Klaus, who has a programme that teaches high school girls how to brag. She said that women have a tendency to 'put our heads down and do really good work', while cheering for co-workers.

This weekend the crème de la crème of Europe’s music scene (well…sort of) gather to represent their country with their talent (however questionable). Yes, that’s right it’s Eurovision. But with UKIP constantly in the news and the up and coming European elections it’s been praying heavily on my mind:
How much do we really want to be a part of Europe?

So last week I talked a bit about how to get your shit together when you have no idea what you’re doing with your life. But how about when you know EXACTLY what you want to do!?! You’d think that would be easier hey! But turns out finding the strength, motivation and courage to make your dreams a reality can be a... Read the rest of this post...

While having coffee with a girlfriend the other day she confided that she was struggling to find focus in her life. And it was causing her real misery. Now she was the 5th person to mention this problem to me in the past month. And her story is one that has been cropping up a lot on aliljoy recently. One... Read the rest of this post...

Haha all women are tyrannical loons hahahahahaha. We're all fucking mental man. Bitches are so soooo crazy. I’ve done my fair share of job applications and interviews. I was on a successful streak, right up until I finished university, until I started going for the ‘career’ job. When I got my first rejection, it was disheartening – and, yes, I may have also shed a little tear. I found it very hard not to take it personally;... Read the rest of this post...

The problem with society seems to be that women are now apparently no longer allowed to want to be desirable or modest because that’s somehow contrary to feminism. Feminism is about equal rights, is it not? It means that I can get a law degree, fight in the navy, sign up for football practice and have sex with everyone on... Read the rest of this post...
