It is with a little bit of sadness that I write this post, but last week I was dumped, simple as that and although I’m an avid fan of rom-coms and the empowering hails of Cher and Beyonce, I didn’t exactly follow the standard Bridget-esque routine (well, there was wine). After spending the day bonding over cats in Soho’s cat... Read the rest of this post...

Yesterday evening I was sat in my car, I won’t tell you the context of the situation, but I will tell you I was distressed. In fact the whole drive home was accompanied with a long and emotional monologue. ‘I’m trapped.’ I repeated to myself ‘I’m trapped and I don’t know what to do. I just don’t.’ We’ve all had... What is love? …baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me no more…. Haddaway was on to something when he sang the mega dance floor filler ‘What Is Love?’ back in the 90s. But I still find myself asking this question now. As I chew on my pen. And stare at this computer screen. Blank. There are a million ways you... Read the rest of this post...

So, I partook in my first festival of the year a couple of weekend ago. It was a lovely little local one. The weather was mild, the food & drink were amazing and the music was good. However, one thing I couldn’t fail to notice was the absolute fashion disasters that kept pouring in through the gates. I will openly... Read the rest of this post...

Last Saturday night, I must have been one of the few people not watching the Eurovision Song Contest. You know what I watched instead? Jurassic Park. And the pressure was on - it was my boyfriend's favourite film growing up and remains in his top five favourite films of all time. And it was my first time seeing it. Would our relationship survive when the final credits roll?

Recently I found out about a website called Tube Crush. It’s a forum where people can send in pictures taken of hot guys on the tube. These pictures are then posted and people can rate and comment on them. A similar concept, the Facebook page Women Who Eat on Tubes caused outrage recently. So, should we be feeling the same... London’s Hidden Gems The last thing I think of when someone says ‘North African cuisine’ is ‘one of the best Cosmopolitans I’ve had in ages’. At least that was the case, until I discovered Ayoush. Set on the corner of St. Christopher’s Place, a conglomerate of restaurants and shops just off of Oxford street, Ayoush surprised and delighted me with... Read the rest of this post...

When I booked tickets to head home for the long Easter weekend, I was looking forward to taking a ‘breather’ – I hadn’t left the big city in over 3 months and missed the countryside. So besides baking, drinking ridiculous amounts of tea and hanging out with my family, I took a long bike ride, went for two woodland walks... Read the rest of this post...

Dinnertime at the Johnson household usually means being subjected to my mother’s fascination with back-to-back nightly news, and last weekend was no different. After getting bummed out about all the mayhem in the world, and realising that the news anchor was wearing hipster glasses, a story came on that got me thinking about my professional life.
The report was on career coach, Peggy Klaus, who has a programme that teaches high school girls how to brag. She said that women have a tendency to 'put our heads down and do really good work', while cheering for co-workers.

Dudes, there’s this totally bodacious movie you need to check out this weekend. School got you stressed? Party on with Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. (Image via) Most of our aliljoy writers and readers are from that in-between generation – the one where we were only babies/toddlers when the 1980s classics were originally released but saw them at a young enough...
