A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being Chief Bridesmaid for my friend Lynda’s wedding. We all received the works – professional make-up, hair, everything. It was quite a treat being able to literally roll out of bed at 8:30am and have it all taken care of. But I’ll tell you what wasn’t a treat. All the ladies... Read the rest of this post...

So the other day I had a conversation with a friend about our morning routines. She’s quite the opposite to me in that she picks her outfits very cautiously and spends a good amount of her morning applying makeup to her already beautiful face. I also put thought into what I wear however I’m not that picky, and put comfort... Read the rest of this post...

Dear All, Recently I’ve undergone a drastic makeover and have gone from having very long hair to having quite short hair! Everyone in my life seems to like my trendy new hair, however trend is not something I pay much attention to… I actually cut off my long, lovely, feminine hair to be able to make a donation for little... Beauty: a word associated in this day and age with big hair, fake nails, silicon and being a size zero. But what ever happened to raw natural beauty? Why do women nowadays feel exposed and bare if they have no makeup on? Well, the answer is simple and it saddens me to say we feel the need to fit society’s... Read the rest of this post...

Okay, I’ve had it up to HERE (reaches as high as her 5’2” will allow) with people championing ‘Zero is Not a Size’ t-shirts*. *An American size 0 is equivalent to a UK size 4. Please don’t get me wrong, I don’t agree with the fashion industry’s insistence on only using models that are over 6 foot and utterly skin... Read the rest of this post...

My sister came across a recent article (and translated it into a language a non science-y person can understand). It talked about the potential for transfusions of young blood into older people to improve brain function. Potentially, these transfusions could be used to treat neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer’s). From a pharmaceutical and cosmetic perspective, it suggested it could (with... Stop the Beauty Madness Campaign has got us talking about beauty, and what it really means to be b-e-autiful. I don’t know about you but in my world – the people around me often have a lot of opinions on what’s beautiful. But can we take it a tad too far? Real Women Have Curves A few months ago I... A few days ago I came across something that further confused my already complicated relationship with make-up: this. My first reaction was amazement. I have never used nor experienced make-up being used like this before (make-up isn’t exactly my forte). Of course I’m not completely oblivious. I know it can work wonders. I realise that the right make-up can create... Read the rest of this post...

The other day I was at the swimming pool. Up down, up down. 64 lengths. One mile. I do this four times a week to keep fit whilst the weather is too vile to go running or cycling or to tramp across the coast path. There were two girls leaning against the wall at the shallow end. Every time I... Read the rest of this post...

So my mate and I were having coffee the other week trying to get on with some essay work and as usual we began talking about non-essay related topics. Her boyfriend was coming to visit and so she needed to pop into boots on the way home to get some wax strips. It was at that precise moment that I had the revelation that I am constantly at war. Yes, me! The peace warrior that I am is engaged in CONSTANT CONFLICT... and I am not talking about my current altercation with my neighbours regarding my morning Cyndi Lauper singing I see your true colours... NO! I am talking about a vicious confrontation with (dum dum dum) my own body hair. I am talking about the battle of the FUZZ people. And it is Uuuuuur-Gaa-LY!
