When I was younger, I mistakenly took the phrase ‘only child’ as ‘lonely child’. Thinking that the description was quite apt and made a lot of sense, I would walk up to adults and pronounce that I was, in fact, a lonely child. No wonder I got so many pitying looks. As I’ve grown older, I’ve learnt to take the... Read the rest of this post...

At the pub the other day with two friends, one of the said, ‘What would our eight year old selves say if they saw us now?’ We all burst into laughter. It was the kind of laughter where it could have quite easily been tears, but instead we laughed to ease the pains of being adult and watching unfulfilled dreams... Read the rest of this post...

The other day I was reminded of a small thing that brought me straight back to my childhood. It was an interest of mine. I wondered why that interest had ever disappeared. I was quite self-assured when I was younger. I was aware that people used to make fun of me for the way I looked or for my unusual... Read the rest of this post...

So the other day I woke up hungover to shit and barely remembering my walk home. I called my friend to reminisce about last night’s frolicking and he kindly informed me of a dramatic monologue I’d indulged in. ‘You told me all about your dead cat.’ He said, ‘You even cried at one point!’ ‘Oh dear Lord.’ Thought I, as the... I’m currently sat in my bed. I’ve just got back from work and I’m thinking about the article I’m going to write. I’m feeling pretty tired and before I know it I’m reaching under my duvet and pulling out Hotty. Hotty is what is defined as a ‘comfort toy’: a toy (though it’s not always such) that we become attached... Read the rest of this post...

So, I heard this yesterday… ‘I mean, I would have done when I was younger, but not now I’m nearly 25’. Hang on a sec…What was that I heard? You’re going to be 25 this year? You were in my year at school… How the hell has this happened? 25… It’s mature, it’s adult age, even old… And it doesn’t... Read the rest of this post...

You’ve gotta love Sky Movies – they’ve got an entire channel dedicated to Disney movies!
Unfortunately, I can’t afford such extravagances myself, so when I visit my parents it has become customary of late to indulge in a little childhood nostalgia. First it was The Little Mermaid, then Cinderella, now Peter Pan. And it’s the perfect topic for this week’s Feel Good Film.
