25 Pieces of Advice for My Little Sister
(Note: this post is total CHEESE BUCKET!)
…okay, OKAY, I don’t actually have a little sister. But can’t a girl dream!? It’s not my fault my parents didn’t listen to my advice and adopt.
‘I wish I had a sister!’ I exclaimed as I was having coffee with one of my girlfriends not too long ago.
‘What are you talking about? You have plenty of sisters.’
And that’s when it hit me: she was right! I might not have a biological sister, but hell, I am blessed to have plenty of girls in my life who I consider sisters. They’re just from different misters – that’s all!
The thing about sisters (in this context), is that we can share anything. Even if it’s not really what we want to hear. If that’s not love I don’t know what is! It’s not so much about age but more about imparting precious worldly advice and being there for one another through the struggle. This is the joy of sisterhood and makes me super proud be a woman. (Told you this is cheese bucket!)

So here we go.
25 Pieces of Advice for My Little Sister:
1) Don’t change your body into what it’s not. Be healthy, be strong. Kick ass.
2) A few really good friends are better then a hundred ‘surface friends’.
3) Not everyone is going to like you, but that’s okay. That’s life!
4) Don’t let anyone rush you to make decisions about higher education. Take time to think about what you really want to do after high school.
5) Never EVER stop reading.
6) ALWAYS keep a tampon in your bag.
7) ALWAYS drink a pint of water after a heavy night out on the razzz.
8) Make music playlists every summer break.
9) ALWAYS go with your first instincts when it comes to people.
10) ALWAYS be willing to give people a second chance.
11) First kiss – make it count.
12) First time sex. DON’T EVER HAVE SEX. Okay – not realistic. (I get the feeling I would be a very protective big sister.) When you do it, if you do it, find someone who is deserving of that sacred piece of your heart and soul. (And please, PLEASE use protection otherwise I’ll have to go and kick some serious ass.)
13) Don’t beat yourself up about the mistakes you make.
14) A person who repeatedly makes you feel bad about yourself is not your friend.
15) Be kind to yourself.
16) Experiment with your style. Be bold, embrace the mad and have fun!
17) Never let anybody take your shine.
18) Never feel ashamed to ask questions.
19) Understand your parents are human – they make mistakes too.
20) When it comes to exams: try your best, then let it go.
21) Never underestimate the underdog. Failure makes you stronger later on!
22) When you find a pair of jeans that fit – BUY THEM.
23) Don’t be afraid to love.
24) In the face of heartbreak: even though it will hurt like hell, time WILL heal you.
25) Dream, and dream big. Then go forth and kick ass…
Thanks to all the little sisters for keeping the world on fire!
Have a great week peeps!
