Book Boyfriends

A commercial money-making scheme or the most romantic day of the year, whether you love it or hate it, V day is looming. It’s the time of year where people tend to think about their ‘perfect partners’. I know of lots of perfect men, the only problem is that they don’t actually exist. You-Tuber Carrie Hope Fletcher has written a... Read the rest of this post...

It’s My Party and I’ll Cry if I Want to

It's My Party and I'll Cry if I Want to

Birthdays are funny things, aren’t they? We spend the first 21 years of our lives looking forward to it, and then each year after that less and less so. On my fourteenth birthday I got a guinea pig. BlackHistoryMonth_2

October is Black History Month, but until now it hasn’t really something I’ve given much thought to before. I’m sure I probably did some lessons in school on it, but I can’t really remember it. When I think about Black History Month, I think of well-known figures such as Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King. I have probably heard... Read the rest of this post...

What does it mean to be successful?

TortoiseandtheHare

Every person’s life goes at a different pace, with lots of twists and turns; some expected, some completely out of the blue. It is very difficult not to compare your life with others; using their milestones as benchmarks for your own. Some of my friends are having children, some are getting married. Work Ready?

jobbies

At the moment I work as a School Careers Advisor. It’s a bit of a weird situation as my ‘career’ is advising other people about what to do with theirs. It’s true, a lot of the jobs that students mention, such as doctor, accountant, solicitor etc., I have a limited knowledge about as I have never done these jobs before.... Tube Crush: Is It Okay To Post Pictures Of Strangers Online?

Tube Joy

Recently I found out about a website called Tube Crush. It’s a forum where people can send in pictures taken of hot guys on the tube. These pictures are then posted and people can rate and comment on them. A similar concept, the Facebook page Women Who Eat on Tubes caused outrage recently. So, should we be feeling the same... Why ‘My Mad Fat Diary’ Is So Relatable

Rae-You-Cant-Spend-Your-Life-Afraid-450x370

(Warning this post contains spoilers.) I absolutely LOVE Channel Four’s ‘My Mad Fat Diary’. What’s the show about? In a nutshell it’s about a teenager called Rae who is growing up in the nineties. Rae is overweight and suffering from mental health issues. (Image via) Series one focuses on Rae finding new friendships after time away in a psychiatric unit.... Read the rest of this post...

Worry Lines

Dogs_Shar_Pei

If worrying gives you wrinkles, then by now I should look like one of those Shar Pei dogs. I would need a huge vat of anti-wrinkle cream. I am a massive worrier and some days I feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders. Sometimes it’s big things that worry me: global warming, flooding, the recession. Sometimes a small thing that happens can make me worry about a whole heap of other things. I know that worrying is a waste of time and completely unproductive, and I often tell other people this, but I find it difficult to take my own advice.
